Sometimes a man needs advice from…a fellow man. My girl next door advice may not serve a guy looking to choose decide the best fit for suit pants or answer the big question: boxers vs. briefs? Someone who understands the material needs to address the material. This is why Glam & Graffiti is extending its fashion advice to include specific men’s fashion in addition to its beauty and style segments.

Denim has the potential to really tie a look together or make you look flat-out ridiculous, which makes buying the perfect pair of jeans that much more important. You’ve got to consider a number of factors when making the purchase, like size, wash, and cut. You probably ask yourself a few questions when standing in front of the dressing room mirror too.

“Are they too tight?”

“Will my girlfriend like them?”

“Is this color too loud?”

“Do I look like a spitting image of Ryan Gosling from GQ?”

Let’s get started. Grab your ripped, old jeans, throw them out, take a seat, and listen up.

Men’s Jeans: How to Wear

1. Stay simple. Go with a slim cut of darker jeans paired with a solid color t-shirt.

2. Roll your jeans up over a boot to show the sock or ankle.

3. For a more formal look, turn to a checkered button-up and tuck it into your favorite pair of denim. Heading into work on casual Friday? Add a solid-color, skinny tie to complete the outfit.

4. Want a more complex look? Work off the previous style and throw on a navy blue/grey sweater or blazer over the button-up.

5. If you’re a beginner, don’t double up.Try to avoid pairing the wash of your jeans with a similar wash of a denim jacket or chambray shirt. If you do, make sure the wash on the bottom is different than on top.

6. And always, always, ALWAYS…wear a belt.

Bonus! Men’s Colored Chinos: How to Wear

The Ben Sherman Chino

Colored jeans and pants can be tricky to wear, but when you pair them with the right pieces, you can assemble the perfect outfit with ease. Jeans and chinos can go quite well with a solid color t-shirt or a white button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. You can’t go wrong with white. Specifically, a brick red pair could work with a white high V-neck t-shirt or a henley T like the American Eagle Legend T.

After you’ve experimented with that look, try switching things up by wearing a lighter-colored button-up with a navy blue or gray blazer to add a more formal touch.

Thanks Matt, great advice! If you have more questions of how to rock the look, leave a comment or send him a tweet at @MattKorn12. Interested in becoming a guest author? Leave me a note!
